TRIAL POINTERS

RANDWICK April 30: PALMETTO is ready to turn her form around after a surging last to first win in the 6 f heat (72.68; 34.58)

WARWICK FARM April 26: Nice conditioning trials from some well-known names including the G1 performer NUGGET, BAROQUE ROAD and JOJO WAS A MAN. I'm not a fan of polytrack trials but it there was plenty to like about the way the 5 3⁄4 f heat winner CALL DI went about her business.

ROSEHILL April 23: A classy return by Group-winning mare BANANA QUEEN in her first trial since October, trucking through her 4 1⁄2 f heat (54.41; 34.44) under a big hold from Nash Rawiller for an easy win. She pulled well clear turning for home before he shut her down with her winning margin flattering the closers.

RANDWICK April 15: High class sprinter CANNONBALL made an impressive return from his summer spell, a break he needed after his trip to the UK last year. He finished fourth in the fastest 3 1⁄2 f heat after he drifted to the rear some 15 lengths off the lead before steaming to the line over the last 1 f to be beaten less than 2.5 lengths. Not the easiest horse to train but he's obviously coming up well and an indication of what he is capable of when right.

RANDWICK April 8: SPACEWALK is a good Group sprinter on his day and two recent trials have him ready to be a player in the right races. Classy win under a good hold in his 4 1⁄4 f heat on the Kensington track (50.50; 33.61), running through the line with a lot to offer. The form looks good as the subsequent Randwick winner Joliestar finished third. Stablemate CONTEMPORARY had an easy time finishing fourth.

WARWICK FARM April 5:  A small set on the polytrack with three short course heats over 3 1⁄2 f won by Godolphin runners including an open heat with PISANELLO (44.37; 33.81) working easily to win the trial.

WARWICK FARM MARCH 26: EMBASSY stood out in the 2YO heats with a classy win in the fastest 3 3⁄4 f heat (46.51; 33.95), going through his gears effortlessly with plenty in reserve at the finish. Took on high class fields in his first two starts and only a matter of time for him to record his first win – could be a star at the Brisbane carnival.

NEWCASTLE March 27: Classy G2 winner ZOE'S PROMISE is working up to a likely Brisbane carnival campaign. She did it easily in her first trial since January to lead the fastest 5 f heat by a big margin and coast home untouched (60.05; 33.61). Impressive work that augers well for her to run well fresh.
