SOUTH AFRICA RACING TIPS

FAIRVIEW

Race 1
Race Summary: SILVONIAN was a bit unlucky not to win either of his first two starts but can do so this time. GORGEOUS KLEIN was not too far behind the selection when they met on debut and should fight out the finish. MY BEST SHOT showed signs of inexperience on debut and is likely to make significant improvement. GLOBAL CHIEF is likely to improve off his debut and can contest the finish. Watch the betting on the newcomers COOL CAT, GLOBAL STATE and MISTER SPEAKER.

Selections:
#10 Silvonian, #6 Gorgeous Klein, #9 My Best Shot, #4 Global Chief

Race 2
Race Summary: A weak race and it is quite possible long-time battling maiden SEA OF TEARS can score. She has been consistent in the Eastern Cape and gets a golden opportunity. KEENONKELLY lacks a strong finish but is holding her form and will be a big threat to these rivals. WINNING GRACE does not always show the best form but if she does, she can score. AZIMUTH needed her local debut and has scope for vast improvement. NAIROBI and MY TRUE LOVE are two others who can contest the finish.

Selections:
#1 Sea Of Tears, #4 Winning Grace, #3 Keenonkelly, #8 My True Love

Race 3
Race Summary: A competitive race. BATTLE OF KURSK seemed to be a one-paced customer in Gauteng but could be good enough to win on local debut. WAR SWORD has shown improvement of late and can contest the finish once again. RUN FOR ME has been unreliable but did run well on local debut and would not be a surprise winner. DESTINY'S ANGEL was heavily supported to win both his Polytrack runs but proved a disappointment. He can make vast improvement back on the turf. COME ON YOU SPURS makes his local debut after a change of trainer and is capable of improvement.

Selections:
#1 Battle Of Kursk, #3 Run For Me, #2 War Sword, #4 Destiny's Angel

Race 4
Race Summary: A competitive handicap. SILVERY BLUE has been at her very best around this distance this season and can bounce back to score. CHRONICLESOFNANIA has not showed her best form in her last two runs but she did have rival in this UNYIELDING beaten off by when they last met. UNYIELDING ran a cracker last time out in a field where there form has worked out well and she would not be a surprise winner. TREASURE HUNT is better drawn this time and is capable of improvement. AERIAL VIEW and KABON KAPI are not reliable but are not out of it. DESERT ROSE makes her local debut and can improve. METAR won well last time out and could have more to offer.

Selections:
#11 Silvery Blue, #2 Unyielding, #1 Chroniclesofnania, #4 Treasure Hunt

Race 5
Race Summary: Two of this larger field are weighted to fight out the finish if showing their best form. GRAZINGINTHEGRASS was a bit of a disappointment last time out when only fifth but does seem to be stretched by 2000m and will do a lot better this distance. HOLD MY HAND broke a long losing streak when scoring last time out and will have gained confidence with that win. She makes the trip from the Western Cape. CHERRY ANO found good betting support when showing his best to score last time out and could be a threat. PEACE IN OUR WORLD and BRENDEN JAMES are holding their form and are not out of it.

Selections:
#4 Hold My Hand, #1 Grazinginthegrass, #2 Cherry Ano, #8 Brenden James

Race 6
Race Summary: His recent gelding may have taken more out of FAIRY KNIGHT than expected as he really ought to have won easier than he did last time out. He proved too good on the day but had stable companion LEGAL THRILLER closing in on him quickly at the finish. He can follow up but there does appear a danger in the form of the filly TRIP TO MAPUTO who won twice last year and is coming off a decent third-place finish. UBISIKA has shown good improvement of late and could have more to offer. The battle for stake cheques should be just as competitive and LEGAL THRILLER, WAZ WOUTER and GLOBAL FORCE are all capable of earning some money.

Selections:
#1 Fairy Knight, #8 Trip To Maputo, #7 Legal Thriller, #4 Waz Wouter

Race 7
Race Summary: THREE ROCKS looks a decent sprinter in the making and has been very good on her home track. Her last run was a disappointment, but she can bounce back to score. GOLDEN PACIFIC just keeps beating the handicapper and deserves the utmost respect. GIMME'S LASSIE has been disappointing of late but has made the trip from the Western Cape and should be a real danger. PINNACLE went too quickly for her own good last time out and could like this shorter distance. Stable companion SISTER LIGHT bounced back to her best when scoring last time out and deserves respect.

Selections:
#10 Three Rocks, #11 Golden Pacific, #1 Gimme's Lassie, #2 Pinnacle

Race 8
Race Summary: A tough race to end a tough card. SMORGASBORD proved just in need of his local debut and could bounce back to his best and score. TEATRO seems better than the last run and has a place chance. ACORN is back on the turf and can contest the finish. WHATEVER NEXT is in good form and is clearly suited to this course and distance. RENAISSANCE MAN makes his local debut and is quite capable of scoring when in the mood. THE WINTER LAKE disappointed last time but has been more effective up the straight and over this distance.

Selections:
#1 Smorgasbord, #4 Acorn, #3 Teatro, #7 Whatever Next

Best Win: #10 THREE ROCKS
Best Value Bet:
Best Longshot: #11 SILVERY BLUE

KENILWORTH

Race 1
Race Summary: A competitive opening event to lift the lid on a cracking Cape Derby card. TALK TO THE MASTER will not be winning out of turn having finished 2nd in both starts, including over track and trip last time. UN BEL DI, however, has been close-up behind an exciting prospect in consecutive outings, so could have his measure. ZANTHAR, WORLDLY and SHOWGIRL are likely to improve with the benefit of their pleasing introductions under the belt, which also applies to LONELY AS A CLOUD. Ante-post market support for well-bred newcomer RHYDIAN has to be taken seriously.

Selections:
#4 Un Bel Di, #13 Talk To The Master, #2 Zanthar, #8 Worldly

Race 2
Race Summary: A small but competitive field assembled for this 3yo fillies Listed race. SUMMER LILY impressed over 1400m last time and gave the impression there will be more to come over further, so it should pay to follow her progress. RAINBOW LORIKEET, CALLMEGETRIX and PRINCESS IZZY renew rivalry and are closely matched on the revised weight terms. FATAL GEM finished 4th from a wide draw in an 1800m Grade 3 against the boys last time and will be more competitive against her own sex at level weights.

Selections:
#1 Summer Lily, #5 Fatal Gem, #2 Rainbow Lorikeet, #6 Princess Izzy

Race 3
Race Summary: High-quality 2yo Grade 3 featuring several promising juveniles, though none makes more appeal than hat-trick-seeking ROMAN AGENT who has displayed a willing and professional attitude in winning his last two starts. WINDS OF CHANGE belied his inexperience when a fast-finishing 2nd behind that rival on debut and ought to pose a threat with improvement expected given the benefit of that effort. Debut winners SYMPHONY IN WHITE and BANFF are also open to any amount of progress, so must be respected. ONE STRIPE and LITTLE BALLERINA were winners over track and trip recently so have claims too.

Selections:
#10 Roman Agent, #9 Winds Of Change, #8 Banff, #6 One Stripe

Race 4
Race Summary: POMODORO'S JET stayed on to finish a close-up 4th in a stronger race over track and trip on Met day so ought to take advantage of this drop in class off an unchanged mark. CAFE CULTURE was outrun late in the same race having done much of the donkey work and will be competitive again with the removal of blinkers expected to make him settle better. INNAMORARE didn't go unnoticed in the same race, despite finishing unplaced from the widest No 14 gate, and is likely to pose more of a threat from a better draw. USA'S HOPE, MAGIC VERSE, SOLOMONS SEAL and CHARLIE CROKER can also get into the picture.

Selections:
#3 Pomodoro's Jet, #5 Innamorare, #4 Cafe Culture, #6 Usa's Hope

Race 5
Race Summary: Top-rated ROYAL AUSSIE acquitted himself well in back-to-back Grade 1 races and on the form of his King's Plate 3rd over this track and trip, will be hard to beat under favourable weight conditions. FUTURE PRINCE is held by that rival on their Cape Mile meeting but should get closer on these terms. A bigger threat, however, is likely to come from QUASIFORSURE who will enjoy this longer trip having run on from a long way back over 1400m last time. CAPTAIN FONTANE is held on that form but could also get into the picture. Best-weighted GOLD POKER GAME isn't without a chance either.

Selections:
#7 Royal Aussie, #4 Quasiforsure, #5 Gold Poker Game, #3 Captain Fontane

Race 6
Race Summary: A mouthwatering renewal of the Grade 3 Prix Du Cap. OCTOBER MORN made no mistake over 1200m last time and on that evidence should have no issue stretching out to this trip. RASCOVA and DOUBLE GRAND SLAM placed in a 1600m Grade 1 last time and ought to remain competitive over this shorter trip, which could favour the former given her strong frontrunning style. GOLDEN HOSTESS is versatile and likely to give another honest account. MRS GERIATRIX will be more effective over this trip after an eye-catching last start over 1200m, which bodes well for her chances over the extra 200m. Good race!

Selections:
#11 Mrs Geriatrix, #6 Rascova, #8 Double Grand Slam, #2 October Morn

Race 7
Race Summary: The speed will be on. THUNDERSTRUCK has maintained a high level of form in 3 Cape Summer starts, winning twice before finishing 2nd in a 1000m Grade 1 last time ahead of BEREAVE, RIO QUERARI and SURJAY. He is weighted to confirm his superiority on these revised terms, although those rivals could get closer over the extra 200m. SILVER FALCON is effective over this trip and is likely to be sharper for the fitting of first-time blinkers. FUTURE VARIETY and COSMIC HIGHWAY are others to consider.

Selections:
#9 Thunderstruck, #1 Rio Querari, #3 Bereave, #2 Surjay

Race 8
Race Summary: GREEN WITH ENVY gave weight and a beating to several re-opposing rivals in the Grade 3 Politician Stakes Derby Trial and on that evidence has strong winning claims on these terms. BEACH BOMB is a lively contender too, in receipt of a 2.5kg sex allowance as the only filly in the race. She is a two-time Grade 1 winner (over 1600m and 1800m) and, like the former, is expected to improve going this trip for the first time. The same could also be said of Gold Rush winner RAPIDASH who appears the stable elect on riding arrangements. Stablemates HLUHLUWE and HARAJUKU complete the shortlist.

Selections:
#6 Green With Envy, #4 Beach Bomb, #8 Rapidash, #7 Hluhluwe

Race 9
Race Summary: A wide-open sprint event in which the value could lie with well-related DAME OF TRIX who confirmed the promise of her debut win by finishing 2nd in a stronger race last time and should improve with a step up in trip. NORDIC QUEST enjoyed a return to this distance last time and will remain competitive under 61kg, though may find it tough confirming that form on these terms as PINEAPPLEMINTGREEN, DOUBLE DREAM, GIMMETHEWALTZ and GIRL LIKE US are all better off at the weights. GREAT CAT and RED MOON RISING aren't discounted either.

Selections:
#2 Dame Of Trix, #13 Pineapplemintgreen, #8 Nordic Quest, #14 Double Dream

Race 10
Race Summary: The annual Jockeys' vs. Work Riders Championship is likely to go the way of SPEED RACER who ought to have improved following his last-start 2nd over track and trip when returning from a rest/gelding. WISSA'S ON FIRE and THE US OF A have shown enough to make their presence felt and have scope for improvement too. NOON DAY GUN was disappointing last time but has claims on his earlier form. Watch the betting on newcomers GIFT OF GRACE and SCIMITAR, and respect any market support.

Selections:
#1 Speed Racer, #7 Wissa's On Fire, #10 The Us Of A, #2 Noon Day Gun

Best Win: #6 GREEN WITH ENVY
Best Value Bet: #2 DAME OF TRIX
Best Longshot: #2 DAME OF TRIX

TURFFONTEIN

Race 1
Race Summary: Only two of the seven runners carded have raced and CYMRIC, who attracted money on debut, looks most likely to improve and gets the nod. However, a fancied first-timer could prove dangerous. Watch especially LEGEND OF ARTHUR and GEAR SHIFT.

Selections:
#1 Cymric, #4 Legend Of Arthur, #2 Gear Shift, #3 I Belong

Race 2
Race Summary: Half the field of eight are debutantes. KINDRED HEART finished close up in both her starts and it could be third time lucky. GAELIC DANCER found solid support on debut but was all at sea - she will have gained experience. GOLDEN CHANDELIER hasn't been far back in all three runs. Watch the newcomers, especially VARVARA.

Selections:
#4 Kindred Heart, #2 Gaelic Dancer, #3 Golden Chandelier, #7 Varvara

Race 3
Race Summary: Very competitive on collateral form. TOO LATE MY MATE showed up well on debut and will relish the extra - respect. MOTHER CITY found no support on debut but did well to get close in 4th - she can only improve. INTRO is improving with each run and should be involved. LADY OF TIBET is sure to improve on debut over the longer trip. Watch the three newcomers.

Selections:
#7 Too Late My Mate, #3 Mother City, #1 Intro, #6 Stars And Bra's

Race 4
Race Summary: The Bauhinia Handicap has attracted only 5 runners but it should be in interesting. Top weight GOLDEN SICKLE has run 5 times for Tony Peter winning 4 and touched off in the other. She gives 4kg to TROPPO VELOCE, 4.5kg to FLOWER BOMB, 9.5kg to MYTHICAL DREAM and 14.5kg to ON CUE. However, TROPPO VELOCE rates a serious threat despite meeting GOLDEN SICKLE on the same terms.

Selections:
#1 Golden Sickle, #2 Troppo Veloce, #3 Flowerbomb, #4 Mythical Dream

Race 5
Race Summary: WESTERN WISHES was not disgraced after a lengthy lay-off and could resume winning ways. If she is found out by her 2nd run after a long break then many could take advantage. However, PRINCESS ILARIA rates a danger - she deserved her 3rd victory and should run another honest race. Stablemate EMPRESS GAME forms a good back-up. HEART PEAKS disappointed in her post-maiden but should do better. LOLLAPALOOZA, MISS SHAIVI and PRINCESS AZARIAH warrant inclusion in exotics.

Selections:
#3 Western Wishes, #2 Princess Ilaria, #1 Lollapalooza, #8 Miss Shaivi

Race 6
Race Summary: Youngest runner MID WINTER WIND is on the up has a good chance of completing a hat-trick. Carrying the same weights at the bottom are BOB'S YOUR UNCLE and stable companion TOTAL SURRENDER who was not striding out last time - both have money chances. CELESTIAL CITY is on a roll and could make it 4 straight wins on the trot. LAGUNA VERDE has ability but also a big weight. Others are looking to upset.

Selections:
#9 Mid Winter Wind, #11 Bob's Your Uncle, #5 Celestial City, #2 Laguna Verde

Race 7
Race Summary: Something was amiss last time with LUCKY LAD and he was out of action for 7 months. He is top class but tackles fitter horses in the Betway National Currency Sprint (Grade 3) over 1100m, including ZIYASHA who improved heaps in blinkers, as well as CULLINAN BLUE and ONE FELL SWOOP who are in good form.

Selections:
#1 Lucky Lad, #2 Ziyasha, #4 Cullinan Blue, #7 One Fell Swoop

Race 8
Race Summary: Difficult to assess. Recent maiden winner VAN MEIJEL could go on and beat a field of this nature. However, 3 time-winner LIL MISS MONEYBAGS only gives him 1.5kg and could take honours. GOLDEN ASPEN hasn't been far off and with RED CARPET GIRL as well as TWICE AS WILD are looking for Trifecta money. Old man WRITTEN IN STONE could add another cheque to his name.

Selections:
#1 Lil Miss Moneybags, #3 Van Meijel, #4 Golden Aspen, #8 Red Carpet Girl

Race 9
Race Summary: Wide open and many with winning claims. THERE SHE GOES was not striding out last time and must be considered. WOMEN OF FAME, NETTLETON, VIRGIN RIVER and LAW OF SUCCESS are in it on collateral form. VIRGINIA BEACH and WORK OF TIME are more for the shortlist.

Selections:
#1 There She Goes, #7 Women Of Fame, #8 Work Of Time, #2 Virginia Beach

Best Win: #1 LUCKY LAD
Best Value Bet: #1 LIL MISS MONEYBAGS
Best Longshot: #1 LIL MISS MONEYBAGS

GREYVILLE

Race 1
Race Summary: Two horses bring Western Cape form into the race and both bare watching. GLOBAL MOVEMENT was in decent form before a rest and is the one to watch even if racing after a rest. COSMIC CAPTAIN has also shown something, he placed in his penultimate and could enjoy the Polytrack. IRISH LUCK was well supported and ran a decent race last time. He can build on that. HELSINKI finished ahead of him in that race and is overdue. He had excuses when racing on the turf in his last try. Stablemate CABERNEIGH came to form last time and can make further progress.

Selections:
#2 Irish Luck, #5 Global Movement, #6 Helsinki, #9 Cosmic Captain

Race 2
Race Summary: GRIFFIN PARK ran first and then second in his first two starts on the poly. He now has the best of the draws and could get back to winning ways. POPPY OF BAYEUX is taking her time in adding her next win but was a promising second in her last start. If not minding the drop in trip she could get the job done. PURPLE POWAHOUSE is another who keeps running decent races without winning. He should be right there again. CHELSEA FLOWER is holding form but has a bit more to do this time. WILL O ME and ZULULANGA both seem capable of better.

Selections:
#1 Griffin Park, #4 Poppy Of Bayeux, #5 Purple Powahouse, #6 Chelsea Flower

Race 3
Race Summary: PIETER BOTH looks to be coming to hand at the right time. He showed much-improved pace at Hollywoodbets Scottsville after gelding last time and if bringing the form to the poly could go close. THE GREEN GALLANT is holding form and could get it right one of these days. The slightly shorter trip could do the trick. POWER STAR and IBIZA NIGHT weren't far off THE GREEN GALLANT and could turn the form around with a bit of luck. ISORENDER reserves his best for this surface and should be in the hunt for prizemoney again.

Selections:
#1 Pieter Both, #3 The Green Gallant, #5 Power Star, #9 Ibiza Night

Race 4
Race Summary: Competitive race. PETIT VERDOT is holding form and was not disgraced in a decent handicap last time. She has drawn well back at her best track. JOLLIFICATION has matured and is enjoying Polytrack racing. But she may find it difficult to fend off PETIT VERDOT from a wide gate. ICE SUNSATION ran on well to finish runner-up in her second run after a rest. She could notch up another win being at her peak now. CAPETOWN BEAUTY is very good on the poly and could suddenly impress again following a drop in her merit rating. LILLYBELLE should be in the fight as well.

Selections:
#2 Petit Verdot, #9 Jollification, #6 Ice Sunsation, #4 Capetown Beauty

Race 5
Race Summary: SIR WILLIAM is the one to watch. He suddenly won in convincing fashion and could finally be on the up after having run some moderate races. SAFE SPACE only just failed in his last two poly races and then got his head in front on the turf thereafter. He has drawn well and will be looking to follow up. RICCARDO was second best behind an improving three-year-old last time and should go well. He does, however, have a wide draw to contend with. TIME TAKER has been a bit disappointing but could pop up at a decent price one of these days. MR PIGALLE has beaten better.

Selections:
#3 Sir William, #1 Safe Space, #10 Riccardo, #9 Time Taker

Race 6
Race Summary: HAVE A PARTY has been knocking at the door on the Highveld. She makes her poly debut and it could be a successful one in this lower division handicap. IDEAL GIFT had things go wrong and ran a good race considering the circumstances. Her form on the poly is decent and she could make a race of it. SPRING KISS was no threat in her last race but has drawn better and may step up on that form with blinkers removed. WHATSUPBUTTERCUP and PRETTY ANALIA seem better over other distances but ran some fair races recently and rate dark horses.

Selections:
#6 Have A Party, #8 Ideal Gift, #3 Spring Kiss, #10 Whatsupbuttacup

Race 7
Race Summary: SWEEPER KEEPER and KING'S ISLAND come into a strong handicap after winning their maidens. But both were easy winners and need to be respected off competitive marks. RODRIGUEZ wasn't disgraced over further last time and was only just beaten in a similar race just prior. He should have every chance having drawn well. KAYGEE'S DELIGHT could be anything on the poly. He has not run a bad race after winning his maiden and could pass this test. FAMOUS AND RICH popped up again last time and along with FIREFLARE, who lost form after impressing, needs to be included.

Selections:
#8 Sweeper Keeper, #3 Rodriguez, #9 Kaygee's Delight, #6 Famous And Rich

Race 8
Race Summary: Go wide in the exotics - looks a tough race. RAFIKI needed his last race. He was consistent before that and having drawn well could add to his tally. FISH EAGLE has met stronger on the Highveld and last time found the trip too short even though well backed. SAN MARZANO held form even though having been squeezed and clipping heels. He could finally get into the winner's enclosure. WAVE WARRIOR came back to form last time and must be respected from gate No 1. He should have every chance. PORFIRIO and LOU LOU THE LEGEND are returning but have the form to take top honours.

Selections:
#2 Rafiki, #3 Fish Eagle, #7 San Marzano, #1 Wave Warrior

Best Win: #1 GRIFFIN PARK
Best Value Bet: #3 SIR WILLIAM
Best Longshot: #3 SIR WILLIAM
